This year is the 300th anniversary of the Scots-Irish or Ulster Scots migration from what is now Northern Ireland to New England. This group of mainly Presbyterians from Ulster set the stage for what would be the first major migration from Ireland to the New World. Several events are taking place in North America and on the Emerald Isle this summer to honor those who left their loved ones back in Ulster and set sail for a new life in North America. Here's some background on what took place.
