Get ready for the First Fox Cities Irish Fest!

Updated: Aug 31, 2021

It has probably been awhile since you have sat down and enjoyed a good old fashioned Irish festival with friends and neighbors. We have recently started to see a few in surrounding areas. Well, now there is one in the works for Northeast Wisconsin.

The inaugural Fox Cities Irish Fest is scheduled for September 17 and 18 at Jones Park in downtown Appleton. There is quite a bit on tap for the two day event. A number of Irish bands will be performing at the park including Gaelic Storm. This popular band will be performing both days! There will also be a cultural tent with displays at McGuinness Irish Pub just a block away.

In addition to all the activities mentioned, there will also be chance to explore your Irish Heritage. There will be a Zoom meeting with an Irish historian live from Dublin late in the day on Friday. At 11:30 am on Saturday, genealogists from the Ulster Historical Foundation will be Zooming live from near Belfast, Northern Ireland. The panel will include Executive Director Fintan Mullan who has frequently traveled throughout North America as part of the March Lecture tour. They will be able to answer questions about your Irish genealogy and some new information that could help in your research. A box lunch will also be available. Both events will be held at St. Mary's Church Community Center just a few blocks from the park. I will be serving as moderator for the Saturday event. Irish research books will also be for sale.
